Functional coatings are of central importance for technical textiles, as they specifically enhance their properties and optimise them for specific applications. They make a significant contribution to enabling textiles to be used in demanding environments – whether in construction, medicine, automotive engineering, aerospace or protection.
Monday, 2. June 2025 12:00 to 17:00 CET
until 12:00 Individual arrival, get-together & tour of the in-house exhibition
12:00 – 13:00 Lunch

Regulatory requirements in Europe – When developing and using functional coatings, several European regulations and directives must be taken into account:
- REACH Regulation (EC 1907/2006): Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals – applies in particular to flame retardants, plasticisers and fluorine compounds.
- CLP Regulation: Classification, labelling and packaging of chemical substances and mixtures.
- Ecodesign Directive and Green Deal: pressure for greater sustainability, resource efficiency and recyclability.
- ECHA restrictions: e.g. for PFAS – gradual reduction of fluorinated substances.
- Certification systems: such as OEKO-TEX®, bluesign®, ZDHC – for transparent supply chains and reduced environmental impact.
14:30 – 14:45 Coffee break & tour of the in-house exhibition
14:45 – 16:30 Factory tour Follmann Chemie Group
18:00 – 22:00 Dinner and networking
Tuesday 3. June 2025 09:00 to 12:00 CET
Importance of functional coatings – Functional coatings fulfil several tasks:
until 09:00 Individual arrival, get-together & tour of the in-house exhibition
09:15 – 09:30 Welcome IVGT: Stefan Schmidt
09:30 – 11:00 Lectures on functional coatings and technologies:
- Protective function: e.g. against UV radiation, fire, chemicals or microorganisms.
- Barrier effect: against liquids, gases or particles.
- Adhesion promotion: improving compatibility with other materials (e.g. in composite materials).
- Optical and sensory properties: e.g. reflection, colour, haptics or thermochromic effects.
- Electrical conductivity or insulation for applications in electronics or sensor technology.
11:00 – 11:15 Coffee break & tour of the in-house exhibition
11:15 – 12:30 Factory tour 2 Follmann Chemie Group or European training systems using the example of AddTex.eu
12:30 – 13:00 Lunch and networking with the guest from the Follmann Textilesymposium
Participation in both events is free of charge. The networking dinner is on a self-pay basis. If a hotel room is required, please indicate this when registering. The Follmann company has pre-booked a large contingent of rooms.
Please note for the Follmann Textilesymposium on 3. June in the afternoon and on the 4. June 2025, a separate registration is required !
